Powys Teaching Health Board has launched a public engagement exercise following an application from Llanfyllin Group Practice to close its branch surgery at Llanrhaeadr Medical Centre.
The practice has advised the Health Board that it considers its current multi-site rural practice model to be financially unsustainable under the existing General Medical Services funding model in Wales.
No decision has been made. The application is being considered through the Health Board’s Branch Practice Review Process, which includes gathering feedback from patients, residents and other stakeholders before a decision is taken at a future public meeting of the Health Board.
The consultation is open from 20 July 2026 until 30 September 2026, and everyone is encouraged to take the opportunity to share their views and local experience.

Powys Teaching Health Board has also advised that a public engagement event will be held during the consultation period. Details will be published once confirmed.

Llanfyllin Town Council is sharing this information to help ensure residents are aware of the consultation and have the opportunity to participate.
